Are you following the rules? Who are you following your heart? So a place of business that I attend too often here in Hawaii, which I'm not going to mention the name of it. I was there today and I met a gentleman probably around my father's age. You know, I kind of keep to myself, I have dark sunglasses and they block out the sides. It got a little Tridium one time. So keep them nice and blocked out. I just enjoy the space. And notice this gentleman because he was near my father's age and slowly, you know, we, we chatted a bit and come to find out that he had just come from Canada and he was here in the Hawaiian islands for the next seven days. And he was essentially, you know, kind of celebrating the fact that he had just sold his, uh, led lighting company that worked with the automotive industry, Tesla for companies like that. He had just sold it for $127 million. You hear that $127 million. That's what he just sold it for. And I was like, wow, that's good. And you're never going to get that if you follow the rules. And made me start thinking about my entire life. I was told to follow the rules and the rules were that I had to memorize these things, fill out these bubbles on these forms, all of this stuff was going to eventually, um, make me successful in life first. Who would get me a college degree? Uh, I did not know at the time that most that actually the on the United States can balance sheet. The number one asset that United States has is, is college loan debt. You know, it's, it's in, in, in and less in rare instances is unforgivable. So the United States, which is a bankrupt entity, really, it's a bankrupt entity, their number one asset that they have, their number one cash flow that they have, um, is college loan debt. Got to keep paying. And I was told my whole life that unless I did these things, I would never be successful. Wow. I sat there at this exclusive place that I'm not going to name, and the only other individual sitting next to me just sold $127 million company. It made me start to think that all the bs that I had to put up with and that you have to put up with isn't as true as I once thought it was. You know, in my first book into the wind, I right. Most people are gambling on the biggest risk of all. And that's the bet that one day you can buy back the time that you wasted chasing everything that they said you were supposed to chase. I did everything I was supposed to not to do. One, I didn't get good grades in school. First and foremost, I did not do good on any standardized stand or ties tests. Second, third, I thought that I was stupid. Um, I get severe anxiety every time I had to take tests because I thought my whole life depended on me passing these tests. And I thought I was stupid because I couldn't memorize any of this stuff I didn't care about. I just wanted to play basketball and I, I never saw any purpose in any of these things that I was doing. They had no real world value to me. And so I quickly became a disturbance in the classroom. Teachers calling my mother, you know, leaving voicemails at home. This happened on many, many, many instances, not once you many instances. And it got so bad that I had to finish in independent study. Um, I essentially was failing out of my junior English class, but it was more than just the academic grade. It was, I thought what we were doing was in a lot of ways, pointless. And I acted out. I was clueless because they said to follow the rules, but the rules were making me feel stupid because I was doing bad on tests and I had to get tutors and I had to stay after. Then I started thinking I had add and Adhd and then I started taking, you know, like Adderall for I know it, I don't know what to think. And I got through high school because I was very good at basketball. I was a first team all San Diego basketball player. So, um, San Diego, southern California is very good. Um, American and just worldwide sports are specifically basketball. Southern California is very good. High School basketball. I wasn't bad. I was a first team, all San Diego player. I could shoot the ball a little bit. And so I thought, you know, I'd go to college and this will help me get into, you know, a good school and then I'll get a business degree.
